Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping.

This could be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church. Or it could be a service held at the local crematorium, cemetery or sometimes at a funeral director’s chapel.

We can talk to you about your preferences and help you to plan the shape of the service that is most appropriate for you and your loved one. You can email the parish administrator who will pass on your request to our ministry team.

Anyone from the parish is entitled to either a funeral service in church or to have their ashes buried in our remembrance garden in the church grounds regardless of whether they were members of the church. We are here to offer support to anyone who is bereaved in the parish.

The Church of England has a table of set fees which we are obliged to apply and these can be found on their website www.churchofengland.org
