Thank you to everyone who gathered for our Lenten meal with a difference; it was a carbon fast. We focussed on carbon emissions that come from the food we eat. We learnt that we can reduce the carbon emissions from the food we eat by:
- Eating everything we buy
- Eating less meat and dairy
- Avoiding air-freighted food
- Trying to reduce packaging
On the plant-based menu were:
Soups
- Minestrone soup with cannellini beans
- Carrot and coriander
- Spiced lentil
Sweet treats for afters
- Rhubarb and almond cake
- Gingerbread
- Flapjacks
- Fruit
Some of the recipes are on the Eco Church board in the church if you’d like to try them out.
Thank you to the cooks for the delicious meal which was good for the planet and for us (as long as you only had one sweet treat)!
