Gateway continued our blessings theme.
We wondered if the blessings were for all, like the laws of physics but the laws of life and good living. We felt that they were, and not just for a select few.
We thought of people we know who fight for justice, help others, live more contentedly or who naturally have a sense of wonder and appreciation for the pure, wholesome and beautiful aspects of life. Those who naturally reflect God’s character to us, whatever faith or none.
And we aspired to reflect God’s ways and character, with the help of God’s Spirit.
The Beatitudes
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
