The ministry of cake … and more!
St Augustine’s surpassed itself on Saturday 26th October by making sure that all the delegates at the Dicesan Lay Ministry Conference at the Millenium Centre received a warm welcome and were well supplied with fabulous cake and coffee/tea. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments with the most difficult challenge of the day being ‘which cake to choose’! So a huge thank you to Jenny W, Sheila A, Lynne, Nicky, Tammy plus Carolyn and Jasmine. Their professionalism and experience did not go unnoticed.
Also a big thank you to Kevin for turning up to shift tables and chairs and to Jenny B for leading us in some amazing worship in the morning, including writing a song just for the occasion. Plus thanks to Tim and Helen who came along after lunch to enhance the afternoon worship. Peter with his ‘Ministrynet hat’ put in all the hard work on the admin before hand and on the day, even donning the car park attendant role … It was a terrific turnout all round showing what Lay Ministry looks like in reality. A great testimony to team work and faith in action.
A comment from one of the organisers was ‘Now I know why Scaynes Hill is the holiest place on the A272!
