Our ECO Church logo

Saint Augustine’s has achieved silver certification from A Rocha as an ECO Church, which involves us in caring for God’s Earth in the different areas of our life and work. To this end we are, just as one example, becoming more deeply involved in recycling, including such things as pre-loved clothes.

We have also, at 3:00 pm on the fourth Sunday of each month, our ECO Church sessions, which replace the former 23@3 sessions. Each month there will be a specific theme, and we shall normally:

  • gather in church to introduce the topic of that month;
  • have the opportunity of being outside or of staying inside for activities and discussion;
  • have time for questions, feedback of ideas, and refreshments.

We have the following scheduled:

3:00‒4:30 pm, 22th May, What is Your Carbon Footprint?; Find out which easy online calculators you can use to reduce your footprint.

Isabel Losada in Lindfield

On Wednesday 25th May the activist and author Isabel Losada, writer of The Joyful Environmentalist: How to Practise without Preaching, will be at King Edward Hall, 24 High Street Lindfield, at 7:30 pm, at the Climate Café run by Fairer World Lindfield. If you wish to attend, you are asked to book in advance, by e-mailing fairerworldlindfield@gmail.com, telephoning 01444 484063, or via Eventbrite. Booking is free, but attendees are asked to pay £5 (cash) at the door, which will cover admission and a glass of wine or a soft drink.

More detailed information is available from this portable document format file, including instructions on how to enter a competition, the ten winners of which will receive an author-signed copy of The Joyful Environmentalist.
