Churchwardens’ Report

June 2010

We are pleased to announce that Lynne Watkins is now officially the new Church Warden. David Wilson has kindly agreed to be the new PCC treasurer and was duly appointed at the first PCC meeting for 2010-11, Sue Will has volunteered to become the stewardship secretary. We welcomed four new members to the PCC, Derek Paine, Jenny Walker, Maggie Sawnee and Kath Crossley. Marie Farley was re-elected, the other members being Nannette Morris, Debbie Martin, Mike Harding, Tracy Comber, Clive Welland and Alan Cattermole. Mark Brunet agreed to be the minute secretary.

May finished with a rousing Songs of Praise followed by a barbeque in the vicarage garden. The women’s breakfasts in the church are very popular. All village ladies are invited to come along. The next one will be a craft and prayer breakfast on June 26th at 8.30 am. For those who would prefer a coffee morning, why not come to the Riverside Fellowship on 15th June between 10.15 am and 11.45 am in the church, all welcome

The film club has started again in the village club. On June 15th the film will be Amazing Grace starting at 7.30 pm.

Instead of Kairos this month, there will be a brief service of praise and thanksgiving, followed by a farewell reception for Julie and Trevor. This will be on 13th June at 6.00 pm in the vicarage garden.

We would like to say a big “thank you” to the Scaynes Hill village day committee for then- generous donations towards the running of the youth club and the upkeep of the church clock. We are extremely grateful to them. We are looking forward to this year’s village day, when we shall be running the refreshment stall and the church stand. All offers of help and cakes to sell will be gratefully received. There will be a box at the back of the church to collect items for the adult or children’s tombola.

There will be a very special occasion at St Augustine’s in June when the wedding of Maria Sitford and Phillip Brett will take place. Maria has been a faithful member of our church all of her life and we offer them our love and congratulations and pray that they will have a long and happy life together.

With best wishes,

Sue and Ursula
