Letter from Tom Robson
January 2010
Dear Friends,
On Sunday 22nd November we held a Youth Service in St Augustine’s School Hall, the first in a series of church services aimed at young people that will be happening locally over the next year.
Our theme was “Who is Jesus” and Brendan Martin (youth worker for the churches in Maresfield and Nutley) spoke to us from a passage in Luke’s Gospel, reminding us that the most important reason that Jesus came was to heal us spiritually, and that his offer of forgiveness is there for everyone to consider.
The music was led by We are Jonah and some of our young people helped with the setup and with the prayers in the service.
It was a great success with around 60 people attending from local churches and everyone really enjoying the evening and coming away challenged by Brendan’s message.
The next youth service will be hosted by St Peter’s Church, Ardingly on Sunday 14th February and a group from Scaynes Hill will be going in the vintage double-decker bus that brought people to our Youth Service. If you’re interested in going please let me know; everyone is welcome and it promises to be another enjoyable evening of music, fun, a talk and a chance to get to know new people from the local area.
God bless,
Tom
St Augustine’s Youth and Families worker
